Violently pitiful, frightful, shaking and reverberating
My crying!
Please pay attention.

The assurance.

You vindicate
You love.
You shelter.

Coming into your presence
the fear of knowing
that you hear
that you see
what is right
what is just
what is deceitful
what warrants vindication

The ones who have closed off their hearts
Speaking arrogantly
Throwing to the ground
Tearing apart
Lurking in ambush
The Lord will be stirred to confront and subdue
These are the enemies
All they have is in this life

As for me
When I wake up
I will look into your face.

Look up.
… That sky
Speaking the silent words of glory

Close your eyes
… that sun
Stretching out the strength of revelation
Listening to the words that the sky speaks
Embracing the strength of the light of the sun
One day rolls into its night and continues on in this way
Running an endless course like the strongest of men
Always.

This is what I hear…
He revives the soul with his perfection
Establishing wisdom in the simple things
Bringing joy and celebration to the heart
Bringing light to the eyes through his purity
Sustaining forever the fear that is clean.

Ever so much more than all the fine gold that this earth has created we desire these things.
More valuable than what the earth considers most valuable
Sweeter than the sweetest thing
There is great reward to be had in living without what is valuable and sweet
Holding to what is perfect and sure, right and pure, clean and true as declared by the sky above.
There is no guarantee that what we deem valuable and sweet is really so
Things are still hidden from us – even in our heart
… But to the sky above and the light embedded within, we put our lives and our selves at His mercy
Trusting that His guidance would keep us from error, presumption, slavery, transgression.

This is God
my God
The powerful force that created this world and all that is in it
This is who God is to me
This is how God exists around me:
as my strength – my strength is God
this rock underneath my feet, this fortress that surrounds me and protects me – that too is God
the act of deliverance is the very presence of God
all that provides respite and refuge is God
this shield that I carry into battle, my defensive protection, this is God
this weapon that I wield, my offensive tool, this is God

I call upon the Lord
I see all the ways that he shows up in my distress
He has provided me with all that I have by his very presence
I am filled with praise
I can trust in his salvation.

Staring into the face of death… It surrounds me completely. I am all tangled up in it. I can see how real it is and how strongly I wish not to die… so I cry out to God, I tell him where I am and I confess the nature of my predicament. I meditate on all that he is to me and just how entirely the enemy is trying to pull me down into his clutch; the very cords of death are growing up around my feet and even as I try to take a step out of this mess it is a step into a snare planted to confront me and then on top of all that treachery, I can hear the sound of the flood waters threatening to drown me in this place.

The Lord hears my detailed cry. He listens to all that I have to say and his response… his response is the most fierce rescue attempt ever assembled… a glorious display of his power, his heart, his being. He calls together all of the forces at his disposal; all his instruments of earth orchestrate this rescue.

The land beneath my feet and the mountains above me began to tremble and quake at the force of God’s anger against the work of the enemy.
All forms of fire appear; hot coals breathing fire which breath smoke.
A very thick and great darkness moves through space like a flying creature. The darkness grows heavy with water and begins to shoot forth hailstones and coals of fire; a thundering voice; lightening like an arrow
The earth is laid bare, broken to the core… and he reaches in and draws me out, up to a broad place, rescuing me from those things too mighty for me to confront.

The righteousness of Jesus that God seeks to reward and rescue. His ways. His path.
Nearness. Blameless. Guiltless. Washed clean. Righteous.
In his embrace, surrounded by his presence, this relationship, reflecting you, acting how we see you act.
Merciful
Anything other than this is torture.
When we are not paying attention we will trip and fall.
You light our way. You are the light in the dark. By your strength we run and leap.
This God is perfect. His word proves true. We take refuge in this. He is our shield.

With the Lord I become Strong. Secure. He trains. He supports. He is Great. Sure-footed. Persistent.
With the Lord I become like a Warrior. Equipped. Elevated.
With the Lord I can Destroy. I can Fight. I become Clean.
From head to toe – feet, hands, body – we become these things with the Lord.

Preservation – requested of you
Refuge – in you
Goodness – only near you
Delightful and excellent – with your people

Sorrow upon sorrow – running away from you

Life is in your hand, it is your hand
You draw these lines and I will not complain
You drop down these lines of inheritance around me and I am filled with the pleasure of what you have determined.

The Lord speaks through the heart to give counsel and instruction
He is before me and beside me
Gladness – in my heart
Rejoicing – in my whole being
Security – in this flesh
Joy – in your presence
Pleasure – by your side
